When you wish upon a star
When you wish upon a star
Makes no difference who you are
    Anything your heart desires
    Will come to you

If your heart is in your dream
    No request is too extreme
When you wish upon a star
    As dreamers do

    Fate is kind
She brings to those who love
    The sweet fulfillment of
    Their secret longing

Like a bolt out of the blue
Fate steps in and sees you through
When you wish upon a star
    Your dreams come true

    A McDonald's love story...
A little old couple walked slowly into a McDonald's one cold winter evening.

They looked out of place amid the young families and young couples eating there that night.

Some of the customers looked admiringly at them. You could tell what the admirers were thinking:

"Look, there is a couple who has been through a lot together, probably for 60 years or more!"

The little old man walked up to the cash register, placed his order with no hesitation and then paid for their meal.

The couple took a table near the back wall and started taking food off of the tray.

There was one hamburger, one order of french fries and one drink.

The little old man unwrapped the plain hamburger and carefully cut it in half.

He placed one half in front of his wife.

Then he carefully counted out the french fries, divided them in two piles and neatly placed one pile in front of his wife.

He took a sip of the drink, and then his wife took a sip as the man began to eat his few bites.

Again, you could tell what people around the old couple were saying. - "They were used to sharing everything."

Then the crowd noticed that the little old lady still hadn't eaten a thing.

She just sat there watching her husband eat and occasionally sipped some of the drink.

A young man came over and begged them to let him buy them another meal.

The lady explained that no, they were used to sharing.

As the little old man finished eating and was wiping his face neatly with a napkin, the young man could stand it no longer and asked again.

After being politely refused again, he finally asked the little old lady, "Ma'am, why aren't you eating. You said that you share everything.

What is it that you are waiting for?"

    She answered,

    "THE TEETH"

This is a good one. How could you not love a dog?
Anyone who has pets will really like this. You'll like it even if you don't and may decide you need one.

Mary and her husband Jim had a dog, Lucky. Lucky was a real character. Whenever Mary and Jim had company come for a weekend visit they would warn their friends to not leave their luggage open because Lucky would help himself to whatever struck his fancy.

Inevitably someone would forget and something would come up missing Mary or Jim would go to Lucky's toy box in the basement and there the treasure would be, amid all of Lucky's favorite toys. Lucky always stashed his finds in his toy box and he was very particular that his toys stay in the box.

It happened that Mary found out she had breast cancer. Something told her she was going to die of this disease...she was just sure it was fatal. She scheduled the double mastectomy, fear riding her shoulders.

The night before she was to go to the hospital she cuddled with Lucky. A thought struck her...what would happen to Lucky? Although the three-year-old dog liked Jim he was Mary's dog through and through. If I die Lucky will be abandoned, Mary thought. He won't understand that I didn't want to leave him.

The thought made her sadder than thinking of her own death. The double mastectomy was harder on Mary than her doctors had anticipated and Mary was hospitalized for over two weeks.

Jim took Lucky for his evening walk faithfully but the dog just drooped, whining and miserable. But finally the day came for Mary to leave the hospital. When she arrived home, Mary was so exhausted she couldn't even make it up the steps to her bedroom. Jim made his wife comfortable on the couch and left her to nap.

Lucky stood watching Mary but he didn't come to her when she called. It made Mary sad but sleep soon overcame her and she dozed. When Mary woke for a second she couldn't understand what was wrong. She couldn't move her head and her body felt heavy and hot. Panic soon gave way to laughter though when Mary realized the problem. She was covered, literally blanketed in every treasure Lucky owned!

While she had slept the sorrowing dog had made trip after trip to the basement and back bringing his beloved mistress his favorite things in life. He had covered her with his love. Mary forgot about dying. Instead she and Lucky began living again, walking further and further together every night.

It's been 12 years now and Mary is still cancer-free. Lucky? He still steals treasures and stashes them in his toybox but Mary remains his greatest treasure.

Live everyday to the fullest...because every day is a blessing from God and someone or something out there loves you more than you will ever know.

    Through a Rapist's eyes/Public Service Announcement
The training section of the police department came upon this article recently. The information contained in the article is invaluable to women who could potentially be victims of crime. I would encourage everyone to read this, and pass it on to those you care for. It is not intended to scare anyone. Those that have been through the PROTECT course, or the CCW courses know th at we constantly emphasize awareness of surroundings. This article reinforces that concept.

When this was sent to me, I was told to forward it to my lady friends.

I forwarded to most everyone in my address book. My men friends have female friends and this is too important information to miss someone.

A group of rapists and eight rapists in prison were interviewed on what they look for in a potential victim and here are some interesting facts:

    1) The first thing men look for in a potential victim is hairstyle.

They are most likely to go after a woman with a ponytail, bun, braid or other hairstyle that can easily be grabbed. They are also likely to go after a woman with long hair. Women with short hair are not common targets.

    2) The second thing men look for is clothing. They will look for women who's clothing is easy to remove quickly. Many of them carry scissors around to cut clothing.

    3) They also look for women on their cell phone, searching through their purse or doing other activities while walking because they are off guard and can be easily overpowered.

    4) The time of day men are most likely to attack and rape a woman is in the early morning, between 5 and 8:30 am

    5) The number one place women are abducted from/attacked at is grocery store parking lots. Number two is office parking lots/garages. Number three is public restrooms.

    6) The thing about these men is that they are looking to grab a woman and quickly move her to a second location where they don't have to worry about getting caught.

    7) Only 2% said they carried weapons because rape carries a 3-5 year sentence but rape with a weapon is 15-20 years.

    8) If you put up any kind of a fight at all, they get discouraged because it only takes a minute or two for them to realize that going after you isn't worth it because it will be time-consuming.

    9) These men said they would not pick on women who have umbrellas, or other similar objects that can be used from a distance, in their hands. They are not a deterrent because you have to get really close to the attacker to use them as a weapon. So, the idea is to convince these guys you're not worth it.

    10) Several defense mechanisms he taught us are: If someone is following behind you on a street or in a garage or with you in an elevator or stairwell, look them in the face and ask them a question, like what time is it, or make general small talk, I can't believe it is so cold out here, we're in for a bad winter. Now thT you've seen his face and could identify them in a line-up, you lose appeal as a target.

    11) If someone is coming toward you, hold out your hands in front of you and yell Stop or Stay back! Most of the rapists this man talked to said they'd leave a woman alone if she yelled or showed that she would not be afraid to fight back.

Again, they are looking for an EASY target.

    12) If you carry pepper spray (this instructor was a huge advocate of it and carries it with him wherever he goes,) yelling I HAVE PEPPER SPRAY and holding it out will be a deterrent.

    13) If someone grabs you, you can't beat them with strength but you can by outsmarting them. If you are grabbed around the waist from behind, pinch the attacker either under the arm between the elbow and armpit or in the upper inner thigh -- HARD. One woman in a class this guy taught told him she used the underarm pinch on a guy who was trying to date rape her and was so upset she broke through the skin and tore out muscle strands-the guy needed stitches. Try pinching yourself in those places as hard as you can stand it; it hurts.

    14) After the initial hit, particularly unfortunate experience that if you slap a guy's parts it is extremely painful. You might think that you'll anger the guy and make him want to hurt you more, but the thing these rapists told our instructor is that they want a woman who will not cause a lot of trouble. Start causing trouble, and he's out of there.

    15) When the guy puts his hands up to you, grab his first two fingers and bend them back as far as possible with as much pressure pushing down on them as much as possible.. The instructor did it to me without using much pressure, and I ended up on my knees and both knuckles cracked audibly.

    16) Of course the things we always hear still apply. Always be aware of your surroundings, take someone with you if you can and if you see any odd behavior, don't dismiss it, go with your instincts. You may feel a little silly at the time, but you'd feel much worse if the guy really was trouble.

PLEASE READ, THEN FORWARD THIS TO YOUR SISTERS, DAUGHTERS, MOTHERS, FRIENDS- EVERY WOMAN YOU KNOW -- IT'S SIMPLE STUFF BUT IT COULD SAVE HER LIFE

I went to the doctor wensday and I can get my knee wet now. Im so happy! I can take baths now and showers without trash bags on my leg. Its great. So yeah....my knee is pretty swollen. I have to start moving it now. It hurts but Im getting there. I got back Tuesday to have the stitches out and for the doctor to decide if I can go to school or not on Wensday. I actually hope he lets me go. I miss school. I miss my friends and having something to do. I mean work gives me something to do but its not enough. I cant work at Primrose now. Its upsetting but I get to keep working at Affinity. Its more money but Primrose would have been more fun. Im in a good mood. Despite everything thats going wrong there are lots of good things too. Im going to start doing childrens worship service for the preschoolers during church. I cant wait. Im so excited. I get to teach bible stories and music and games to 3 and 4 year olds. Ive been hanging out with Joe, Danny, Brandon, and Greg lately. Its alot of fun. Its nice to get away from the girls and drama but then again I cant wait for the Sisters In Christ slumber party. I wont be able to swim cus of my knee but that gives me time to sit and talk. Summer reading is boring. I have to finish my books, do worksheets, and write my papers. Fun fun. Tomorrow I get to go get my nails done with my mom and Nicole(Joshs(my bro) gf). Then I get to go shopping for new shorts cus I cant wait pants cus of my knee and right now I only have one pair nice enough for work. Then after nails and shopping I get Joe all day long! We are finally going to see Willy Wonka and go out to eat. I cant wait. This will be like a real date. Hes driving me to dinner and a movie. Im easily excited. Oh well. Im happy!

    Surgery
I had knee surgery yesterday. All went well. I have pictures and I even get to watch a dvd of it when I go back on Wensday to see the doctor. Hopefully now my knee will be better and I can finally take PE at school. Theres only a little less than 2 weeks before school starts. I still gotta finish my summer reading and homework. I guess I have time for that now that I cant walk or work. Well yesterday was kinda lonely until Joe came over after work and brought me cheesy bread and just made me feel loved. I was so hurt that so many people said they were going to come see me yesterday and no one even called to ask how it went except Mrs. B. Only one person appoligized for not being able to come. It just makes me wonder what Im worth to my other friends. I know they care but most of the time now I just feel used. Im sick of it. Arent I worth more than just a place to sleep, eat, and shower? Well hopefully today will be better. Its mine and Joes 10 month anniversary and he is going to come over again and hopefully take me to lunch at Azoni's (its finally open!) if my mom will let me go anywhere. Joe can legally drive me now! If we cant go out to eat Joes going to get us pizza from Domino's and rent a movie for us. It should be fun. Well Im going to go try to shower without getting my knee wet. This shall be interesting. Byebye.

    11:24 pm
This is the second night I have felt ditched. This is the second time I am suposed to spend the night with 3 people. This is the second time they have left me alone until almost midnight. Why? Do they like leaving me out? I dont know. I just wonder sometimes.
    11:18 pm
A friend of mine opened his wife's underwear drawer and picked up a silk paper wrapped package:

"This, - he said - isn't any ordinary package."

He unwrapped the box and stared at both the silk paper and the box.

"She got this the first time we went to New York , 8 or 9 years ago. She has never put it on, was saving it for a special occasion. Well, I guess this is it. He got near the bed and placed the gift box next to the other clothings he was taking to the funeral house, his wife had just died. He turned to me and said:

"Never save something for a special occasion. Every day in your life is a special occasion".

I still think those words changed my life.

Now I read more and clean less.

I sit on the porch without worrying about anything.

I spend more time with my family, and less at work.

I understood that life should be a source of experience to be lived up to, not survived through. I no longer keep anything. I use crystal glasses every day.. I'll wear new clothes to go to the supermarket, if i feel like it.

I don't save my special perfume for special occasions, I use it whenever I want to. The words "Someday..." and "One Day..." are fading away from my dictionary. If it's worth seeing, listening or doing, I want to see, listen or do it now. I don't know what my friend's wife would have done if she knew she wouldn't be there the next morning, this nobody can tell. I think she might have called her relatives and closest friends.
She might call old friends to make peace over past quarrels. I'd like to think she would go out for Chinese, her favorite food. It's these small things that I would regret not doing, if I knew my time had come.

I would regret it, because I would no longer see the friends I would meet, letters... that I wanted to write

    "One of these days".

I would regret and feel sad, because I didn't say to my brother and sisters, son and daughters, not times enough at least, how much

    I love them.

Now, I try not to delay, postpone or keep anything that could bring laughter and joy into our lives..
And, on each morning, I say to myself that this could be a special day..

Each day, each hour, each minute, is special.

If you got this, it's because someone cares for you and because, probably, there's someone you care about.

If you're too busy to send this out to other people and you say to yourself that you will send it "One of these days", remember that "One day" is far away... or might never come...

Don't keep this message. It holds useful messages for the soul.

    How true . . .

I'm Glad You're in My Dash

I read of a man who stood to speak
At the funeral of a friend.
He referred to the dates on her tombstone,
    From the beginning...to the end.

He noted that first came her date of birth
And spoke the following date with tears,
But he said what mattered most of all
Was the dash between those years.

    (1934 - 1998)

For that dash represents all the time
That she spent alive on earth...
And now only those who loved her,
Know what that little line is worth.

    For it matters not, how much we own;
    The cars...the house...the cash,
What matters is how we live and love
And how we spend our dash.

So think about this long and hard...
Are there things you'd like to change?
For you never know how much time is left,
    That can still be rearranged.

If we could just slow down enough
To consider what's true and real,
    And always try to understand
    The way other people feel

And be less quick to anger,
    And show appreciation more
And love the people in our lives
    Like we've never loved before.

If we treat each other with respect,
And more often wear a smile.
    Remembering that this special dash
Might only last a little while.

So, when your eulogy's being read
With your life's actions to rehash...
Would you be proud of the things they say
About how you spent your dash?

If you have received this, it means that you are truly special to the one that sent this to you.

I am glad that you're in my life and part of my dash.

Send this on to the ones you care about even if it means sending it back to the one who sent it to you...

    From My dash to yours.
    Laugh long, live long,
    Yesterday is history
    Tomorrow is a mystery
    Today is a GIFT
    That's why its called
    the Present

    Water or Coke?

This is really an eye opener....Water or Coke? We all know that water is important but I've never seen it written down like this before.

    WATER

    1. 75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated.
    2. In 37% of Americans, the thirst mechanism is so weak that it is often mistaken for hunger.
    3. Even MILD dehydration will slow down one's metabolism as much as 3%.
    4. One glass of water will shut down midnight hunger pangs for almost 100% of the dieters studied in a  University of Washington study.
    5. Lack of water, the #1 trigger of daytime fatigue.
    6. Preliminary research indicates that 8-10 glasses of water a day could significantly ease back and joint pain for up to 80% of sufferers.
    7. A mere 2% drop in body water can trigger fuzz short-term memory, trouble with basic math, and difficulty focusing on the computer screen or on a printed page.
    8. Drinking 5 glasses of water daily decreases the risk of colon cancer by 45%, plus it can slash the risk of breast cancer by 79%, and one is 50% less likely to develop bladder cancer.

And now for the properties of COKE:

    1. In many states (in the USA) the highway patrol carries two gallons of coke in the truck to remove blood from the highway! after a car accident.
    2. You can put a T-bone steak in a bowl of Coke and it will be gone in two days
    3. To clean a toilet: Pour a can of Coca-Cola into the toilet bowl and let the "real thing" sit for one hour, then flush clean. The citric acid in Coke removes stains from vitreous China.
    4. To remove rust spots from chrome car bumpers: Rub the bumper with a rumpled-up piece of Reynolds wrap aluminum foil dipped in Coca-Cola.
    5. To clean corrosion from car battery terminals: Pour a can of Coca-Cola over the terminals to bubble away the corrosion.
    6. To loosen a rusted bolt: Applying a cloth soaked in Coca-Cola to the rusted bolt for several minutes.
    7. To bake a moist ham: Empty a can of Coca-Cola into the baking pan, wrap the ham in aluminum foil, and bake. Thirty minutes before the ham is finished, remove the foil, allowing the drippings to mix with the Coke for a sumptuous brown gravy.
    8. To remove grease from clothes: Empty a can of coke into a load of greasy clothes, add detergent, and run through a regular cycle. The Coca-Cola will help loosen grease stains.
    9. It will also clean road haze from your windshield.

    For Your Info:

    1. The active ingredient in Coke is phosphoric acid.  Its pH is 2.8. It will dissolve a nail in about 4 days. ! Phospho ric acid also leaches calcium from bones and is a major contributor to the rising increase in osteoporosis!
    2. To carry Coca-Cola syrup (the concentrate) the commercial truck must use the Hazardous material place cards reserved for Highly corrosive materials.
    3. The distributors of Coke have been using it to clean the engines of their trucks for about 20 years!

Now the question is, would you like a coke or a glass of water?

I got a funny mother's day card for my mommy...

    THE FRONT SAYS:

In the beginning God created the world and populated it with children...and after a time, He looked down and said: "HEAVENS! This play is a zoo!!" So He created pets....and after a time He looked down and said: "WHAT AN UNGODLY MESS! You kids need a shepherd!"

So He created dads...and after a time He looked down and was astonished!!! To see the whole works GOING STRAIGHT TO HELL IN A HANDBASKET!

    THE INSIDE SAYS:

So He created moms...and after a time the Lord looked down and He said: "THIS IS GOOD!"

So thats 3 surgeries at once. A whole week of recovery during the summer. Oh well at least my nose and throat will be better. It might help my migranes too.

Just say the first thing that pops into your mind.

This is a fun "test"... AND kind of spooky at the same time! Give it a try, then e-mail it around (including back to me) and you'll see how many people you know fall into the same percentage as you. Be sure to put in your comment if you are among the 98% or the 2%. You'll understand what that means after you finish taking the "test".

Now.. just follow the instructions as quickly as possible.

Do not go to the next calculation before you have finished the previous one..

You do not ever need to write or remember the answers, just do it using your mind.

    You'll be surprised.

    Start:

    How much is:

    15 + 6

    3 + 56

    89 + 2

    12 + 53

    75 + 26

    25 + 52

    63 + 32

I know! Calculations are hard work, but it's nearly over..

    Come on, one more...

    123 + 5

QUICK! THINK ABOUT A COLOR AND A TOOL!

    Scroll further to the bottom...

    A bit more...

You just thought about a red hammer, didn't you?

If this is not your answer, you are among 2% of people who have a different, if not abnormal, mind.

98% of the folks would answer a red hammer while doing this exercise.

If you do not believe this, pass it around and you'll see.

Be sure to put in the comment if you are among the 98% or the 2% and send to everyone, including the person that sent it to you.

Yesterday was Valentines Day! Duh...well anyway. I hate Valentines day. Ok I dont really hate it but still. In French we had to make love poems on these big peices of construction paper shaped like hearts in FRENCH and give them to somebody. I gave mine to Joe. He didnt know what it said. Hehehe.....hes lucky I told him. So after French was pottery and of course being the procrastinator that I am I didnt want to start my model of the santuary yet. So I volunteered to go on the potters wheel to demonstrate for someone who was out when Mrs. Toth showed the class how to do it. Well yeah....bad idea. My wrist was not strong enough yet. I did end up making a pot but I hated it so I didnt keep it and I hurt my wrist. I had to ice it to keep it from swelling. Stupid me. Opps. Anyway.....next was History and I forgot my notebook so yeah I wasnt able to do anything in there to prepare for our test this week and turning in our notebook so there was an hour and a half wasted. I actually had to watch the video for once. Urg....anyway. Calculus is next. BORING! We didnt learn anything. All we did was go over the same thing we did Friday because people sleep and dont pay attention so the teacher has to teach it all over again. Its so annoying. Oh well. After school I went to Math Team. Yes Im a nerd. From Math Team Josh picked me up and I suprised Joe by showing up at his house 30 min early. I did my homework and we watched a movie. After dinner he and his mommy brought me home and I watched 7th Heaven and went to bed before 10. My parents werent even home yet. Man you can tell Im sick. I hate going to sleep when no one is home. So yeah thats all I did Monday.

Today.....so yeah I still feel sick. Blah...I came home early and when I got home Katie and Ryan both IMed me asking why I was home. Katie was "sick" and Ryan was sick. We started a chat room so the three of us could talk. It was so funny and random. Then we talked on the phone with 3-way for a while. Now Im doing some homework and waiting for Joe to call when he gets out of school. Later Im going to the doctor and sleeping so tomorrow I will be better and can go to the dentist and Joes house afterwards and finally get my rose that I forgot to get from him yesterday.

So yesterday Joe and I did end up getting to go to the mall. Joes moms car was messing up again on the way to the mall. The check engine light was coming on and the car was smoking too. Its ok now though. We got something to eat at the food court and then he took me to Build-A-Bear so I could make a monkey for my Valentines Day present. So I got a monkey and a shirt that says I U! and the monkey is holding 5 roses. After that we went to a bookstore to look for a book for Joe and then we went to Dairy Queen. Later we met his mom and Allie to go home. My mom picked me up around 8:30 so I could get some night time practice driving and pick up Katie to spend the night. Katie and I wrote some letters. Well really she wrote one while I practically fell asleep trying to write one. We actually went to bed before midnight for once. I gave her her Valentines Day present last night. The first time we walked to Burger King she found a key on the side of the road and gave it to me and told me it was the key to her heart so I bought her a solid chocolate key and gave it to her and told her it was the key to my heart. SHE ATE IT!!!! Can you believe her? JK! Yeah anyway. Church this morning. Band practice. Youth group. Sick!!!! Home. I dont want to type anymore. Can you tell?

This morning I woke up around 9 after staying up until like 1. Amazingly I dont feel that tired. I did fall asleep on Joes couch but oh well that was only for 10 min while he took a shower. I finally caught up on all my shows I have been behind on. I did all my chores this morning too. I came over to Joes house and he was working on his moms car, hence why he needed a shower, and he is out working again so I am using his laptop. We are supposed to go to the mall later to hang out for Valentines Day so we dont have to worry about going out on Monday but yeah I have to pick up Katie at 8:30 so I dont know what we are doing anymore. We still have 4 and a half hours to go to the mall and dinner so maybe we can still hang out. I dunno. He seems really frustrated with me the past couple of days. Last night we went to Wendy's and to see Hitch. Good movie. It was very funny. I highly recommend it. I have so much to do this weekend. I have to finish Joes Valentines Day present, tidy my room up(its going to get trashed tonight with Katie staying over), homework, more tv shows to watch, I have some stuff to do for the youth praise band, and a ton of calls to make. Im sure Im forgetting something. Oh well....Joes dad is calling me. Ill update later. Maybe Ill have good news. Byebye.
